It’s the culmination of all the workshops, a collection of exhibits showcasing the arts, craft and pastimes of Lawrence locals.

Featuring ‘Sconversations’ with the CWA, bush tucker burgers on the BBQ, kids outdoor games, lantern parade, a dazzling fire show and live music all day.

Live music

Enjoy live music from local performers Pam Hata, Hats Off and Lawrence’s own Visions of a Nomad. Kick back from 2pm to catch local Songwriters in the Round followed by performances by Lawrence Public School students as well as local dance troupes.

Lanterns, workshops, games & alpacas!

Build a LANTERN in under a hour, with master lantern maker Phill Relf of Ikara Celebratory Events. Then join the lantern parade at 6pm as we light up Lawrence with colour and movement!

Spaces in this workshop, which runs hourly from 2pm to 5pm on festival day, will be LIMITED and operate on a first-come first-served basis until full. To avoid missing out, please consider joining the public lantern making workshops at Lawrence Hall on Sat 18 & Sun 19 May. See Workshops page for details.

All workshops are offered FREE of charge.

BUY NOW - A limited number of lantern kits are available to purchase for $5 from Lawrence General Store.

Join Clarence Valley artist Pamela Denise to construct and take home your own WOVEN HOLLOW WATTLE BALL. These can be suspended in a tree or on your veranda and lit with fairy lights to create an enchanting natural ornament. 3 x 1 hour sessions. Sign up on chalkboard.

Watch the kids get immersed in our selection of GIANT WOODEN GAMES, including giant Jenga, giant Connect 4, pick up sticks, bean bag toss and many more. Plus our friends from Circus in Education will be running a CIRCUS PLAYSPACE. Games are available from 2pm to 6pm.

Meet and explore the activities of local groups including LAWRENCE HISTORICAL SOCIETY who are bringing the Lawrence Museum display truck, LAWRENCE GARDENING CLUB, LAWRENCE ART GROUP and a reading - at 4pm - of a local novelist J D Cosh’s fantasy genre debut The Gifting.

Meet the cutest alpacas from Lawrence’s local WAHGUNGURRY ALPACA STUD. Pat an alpaca or take one for a stroll around the Lawrence Hall between 2pm and 5pm.

Saturday morning: ‘Sconversations’ with Maclean CWA (see Workshops page).

Saturday afternoon / evening: The Lawrence RFS will be running a sausage BBQ all afternoon, plus around dinner time, enjoy a Bush Tucker BBQ with Loving Spoonful Productions and The Hungry Gooris.

We’ll also be welcoming Grafton’s famous I Scream cart, a P&C cake stall and of the Lawrence General Store & food truck which will be serving hot food and coffee throughout the event!

Getting there & what to bring

Visitors to Lawrence are encouraged to seek out local camping spots (ask at the General Store) and to follow the guidance of our volunteers with regard to parking and especially during the fire performances and lantern parade.

We recommend you bring a chair and/or a picnic blanket, plus a water bottle, hat, mozzie spray and something warm to wear after sundown. Hot food will be available all afternoon, with further options available across the road at the Lawrence Store.

This event ends at 9pm, leaving you time to head off the Lawrence Tavern after the last band.

Park on the sides of Lawrence Road, Grafton St and Rutland Street. Please note there will be limited parking along Bridge St and NO PARKING at the Lawrence Hall. If you live locally, walk or come by bicycle. Please consider local residents when parking and by keeping the noise down when leaving the event. Thank you!
